LOLER Inspections

WHAT IS A LOLER INSPECTION?

A LOLER Test is the legal requirement for a thorough examination of Arboricultural equipment.

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) has to be carried out by a competent and qualified inspector to make sure that all equipment is in good shape and safe to use.

How often do I need my equipment inspecting?

Your equipment must undergo a LOLER inspection in these intervals;

Climbing Equipment – 6 Months

Rigging Equipment – 12 Months

If there have been any circumstances that may have compromised the safety of your equipment then this should be retested by a LOLER inspector sooner than the timeframes stated above. These circumstances could include the equipment having taken a heavy loading, having been unused for a considerable length of time or exposed to some form of contamination.

Before you send to us please note.

• Please ensure your kit is clean and dry, including storage bags.
• Take equipment apart – Undo Knots and remove mechanical devices / aids from ropes etc.
• Only send items requiring LOLER inspection.

Please provide previous inspection and purchase records if possible.

All items which fail the inspection will be included in the report but kept separate from the rest of the equipment and you will be advised to discard them and given the reason for its failure.

The certificate is a report which is completed throughout the inspection and will contain the following;

• Examination Date.
• The date for next inspection.
• Details of each item including its condition and any recommendations.
